My Recent Doent Files reappear after delete?

I am using XP on a network laptop. When I clean out my recent doents shortcuts, it is fine. But when I reboot onto the network, the shortcuts all reappear as if they were never deleted. Are they being refreshed from somewhere in Windows, Office? not sure what is going on. Can anyone help?
